2004 IKF North American CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Mi-Ki-Do Amateur team represented the Central East Region in the 2004 IKF North American Kickboxing Championships in Orlando, Fla. in August 13-15, 2004. Led by the brother and sister duo Brent Hess & Nicole Hess who had jointly won an amazing 17 titles. Brent Hess 19 yr. old five time U.S. Champion and now a two time North American Champion won his title by defeating two worthy opponents. His championship bout was very exciting. His opponent was an experienced Canadian fighter, but Brent controlled the tempo of the fight by fighting a very strategic and defensive bout until the third round where he landed his trademark spinning hook kick dropping his opponent to the canvas. He won a unanimous decision. Brent is currently ranked #1 in the World in his weight division.

His sister, 16 yr. old Nicole Hess who now holds ten titles won her North American title fighting and winning both of her bouts by unanimous decision. In her championship bout she defeated the defending champion, her kicks and punch combinations were crisp and strong. Nicole is also ranked #1 in the world in her weight class.

Other Mi-Ki-Do team members who won titles are: Ben Russell 11 yr. old 72 lbs. won a unanimous decision. First time participants Kuang Wang, 137 lbs. won the International Rules title, Nicholas Fenton 9 yr. old 57 lbs won the Junior Bantamweight title, and Nicholas Pisciotta 10 yr. old 95 lbs advanced to the finals fighting with a lot of heart.

The Mi-Ki-Do team is coached and trained by Master Mike Hess who has won 35 National & International titles in the last four years making him one of the top kickboxing coaches and trainers in the U.S. What makes the Mi-Ki-DO team so unique, is its ability to adapt and be successful in the three styles of Kickboxing: Full Contact Rules, International Rules & Muay Thai. Most Kickboxing schools mainly concentrate on one style. He takes newcomers and experienced fighters and turns them into champions! The team also has competed in Mixed Martial arts and grappling matches.

In last year's 2003 Nationals the Mi-Ki-Do Team also won five national titles and was the #1 team in the USA.
